BMW Unveils New Concept at Tokyo Show

After releasing the M3 Sedan equipped with BMW M3 performance parts, the German automaker BMW has recently stirred the Japanese crowd at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show when the company unveiled the BMW 1 Series Coupe Concept for the first time.

According to a BMW official press release, "As the fifth concept car presented by BMW in 2007 alone, BMW Concept 1 Series clearly demonstrates the exceptional bandwidth covered by the world's leading manufacturer of premium cars. Following the BMW M3 Concept Car, the BMW Concept CS and the BMW Concept X6/BMW Concept X6 Active Hybrid, BMW Concept 1 Series  stands out as a unique symbol of maximum driving pleasure also in the compact segment."

The BMW 1 Series Coupe  Concept was based on the new BMW 1 Series Coupe, featuring enhanced dynamics, luxurious interior features, and stylish exterior styling. This new concept model from the German automaker embodies the traditional design cues and characteristics of BMW models focusing on pure driving pleasure, elegance, and performance.

The BMW 1 Series Coupe Concept comes with BMW's colors including black, white and blue. The Alpine White paintwork is accented by decal stripes extending from the front headlight units up to the air flow lip on the rear lid. Some exterior components of the car are made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFP), a lightweight and durable material. Other exterior features include newly designed front air dam, newly designed side-sills, new rear bumper, BMW signature kidney grille, gently tapered roofline, long engine compartment lid, and 18-inch light-alloy rims in five-spoke design and a dark chrome colour scheme.

While the exterior offers aggressive and sporty body styling, the interior of the BMW 1 Series Coupe Concept offers comfort, luxury, and functionality. According to BMW, the interior design of BMW Concept 1 Series Concept is "tailored specifically to the driver, applying principles known to offer an intense and successful driving experience also in motor sport." Blue themes dominate the interior including the blue seat seams and a blue decal ring at the bottom of the gearshift lever knob and blue seat belt on the driver's seat. The car comes with sporty amenities inside including alcantara instrument panel finished in black, sports steering wheel, alcantara and leather finished sports bucket seats, integrated headrests and side airbags, and sporting and low seating position for the rear seats. The BMW 1 Series Coupe Concept is also equipped with model designation on the door cutout strips, new material for the linings in the footwells.
